Editions and reprints of Latvian Early Novels

The study examines the reprints and new editions of novels included in the LatSenRom (1879-1940) dataset, analyzing which works have been republished, how many times they were republished, in which publishing houses (within Latvia or abroad) they were published, and who were the authors of the most frequently republished works.

The LatSenRom text corpus encompasses Latvian novels published in book form from 1879 to 1940. At the time of the study’s creation, the dataset included 459 units (novels and parts of duologies, trilogies).

The dataset for the repeated editions of LatSenRom was compiled using thedatabases of the National Library of Latvia LNC04, LNC10; the results were compared and edited using the publication Briedis, R., Rožkalne, A. (2014). Latviešu romānu rādītājs (1879-2013) (Index of Latvian Novels (1879-2013)). Riga: LU LFMI.
